1970 Pontiac Lemans

I have an opportunity to purchase a 1970 Lemans for a good price. It's a column shift bench seat car. I don't want another bench seat car and prefer bucket seats. My question is what do I need to do to convert from bench to buckets? I would also change the column to a tilt. Thanks for the help.

A Lemans is just like any other A body. Just swap out the seats, column, and install a floor shifter.

These days, if you want to find clean factory used parts it gets to be a pretty expensive proposition. Look around and price things out before you get started.

I forgot to mention the part about I would add a floor shift. What are the steps to converting from a column shift to a floor shift?

It all depends on whether you go stock or not.

1st you need to source the parts. Console, mounting brackets, shifter, wiring harness, cable & cable bracket. For the buckets you'll need the seats with tracks and the mounts that need to be welded to the floor, You'll need a floor shift column from a 69-72. Maybe a new speedo (not sure on Pontiac). I may be leaving some stuff out.
