Help please

Looking to drop a chevy 350 in a 40 series 60. Question is what are my options in transmissions to go with it and what other items would be needed to do the swap? Not much experience in this area. Thank you for you time and suggestions. Mainly looking for something that would be easier to find parts for when something messes up with the motor.

I moved your thread to the non-olds powered section. This is going to be a major mod as you will have to fabricate mounts. You can go with any trans you want, I think for simplicity's sake a T350 or a T400 would be the easiest. Other things to consider are steering column or a floor shifter, rear differential swap and cooling for both trans and the engine. It will require some wiring upgrades as well. Make sure your brakes and steering components are up to snuff.

Just a note, you can also run small bock Olds and BOP trans since your having to fab mounts anyway.

I'm not going to bust on someone in the Non-Olds-Powered forum, but are you thinking of the C-word because you've already got one gathering dust in the garage, or for some other reason?

If you're starting from scratch, why not go Olds?
You can build a nice 455 with plenty of power for a 1940 and not break the bank.
... And when people at car shows ask, you can open the hood and show them an Olds motor.
