What year is the Chevy?
Hey everyone. I've been trying my best to identify what year this car is, it's either a 49 or a 50 Chevy.
If anyone can tell me what year this is and how you know that, I'd sure appreciate it.
I think the grille is about the only difference in the two years, but there isn't enough showing for me to tell. Anyone?
Thanks.

It's a 49 or 50, would need to see a bit more of the grill to tell for sure. Bumper guards and trunk lid handle are different between the 2 years and would ID it as a 49 or 50 model if we could see them.

Thanks everyone. M455SX you're the only one with a positive answer as to the year. Why do you say it's a 49?
I was actually thinking I could see just enough of the grille to call it a 49. Also the front hood medallion is smaller on the 49 and you can't see any of it. But darn it all I just can't tell.
Well I'll keep at it and hopefully I'll be able to figure it out.

Most excellent! Thanks Rocket. I had forgotten I posted on here about the picture. I dug out a picture of a 50 and I can see the difference. What a relief. I want to recreate this car but was stuck before I began.

Back story on this certain picture i believe is in order please. Why do you want to recreate this specific car?

I'm from Park Forest, IL, and this is the village's first police chief and the first police car. The first time I saw this picture I thought, that would be a pretty cool project recreating this car.
Apparently this is the only picture that exists of Car #1. I contacted Park Forest and no one has any information on this car. The earliest information anyone has been able to find is for a 54 Plymouth.
