vortec 5700 & trans into 78 cutlass w/260

I've been trolling this site for a while and there's tons of good info and intelligent olds guys here. I have a 78 cutlass w/260 and i want to put my 2000 vortec 5700 & 460 trans into it. I have the complete harness, cpu, fuse box, frame & motor mounts.

What's a good starting point? Be gentle ...I'm new.

Was the old Gen II SBC offered in 2000? I know the Gen III 5.3s and 6.0s were available from 1999.

Tahoes, Suburbans and 3/4 ton crews went to 2000 with the 5.7 and vans still had them until at least 2002

Huh...learned something new.
Fitment should be like any SBC.
Do you know if it has the reverse cooling and Opti Spark like the LT1s? And does it have electronic auto trans controler in the ecu?
What trans are you planning to use? The Olds trans may or may not have dual POB/SBC bolt patterns.

It will be an R motor. Basicly all regular SBC rear distributor Vortec headed motor.

If it was me I would just carb that thing. The poppet valves injectors are known for trouble trouble when they are up there in miles. There is a kit to replace with electronic injectors but its about $700.00
Also if you do reuse the injection intake make sure to replace the intake gaskets now before you put but in. It WILL leak and it always start as a internal leak inside the motor .
