A 383 Chevy? With all due respect why are you asking in this site?

Do a quick check on this site for some of the threads about putting a chevy in an olds. It is not as easy and quick as you might think. It might be cheaper in the long run to rebuild your 350 olds.

Moved to the proper area. This is the place to ask non Olds questions.

I have built a few 383's myself but have no experience with Wheeler.

Bull$hit! A Chevy swap is easy! Motor mounts are $61 shipped from Summit racing and that is ALL you really have to do. Olds radiator works, starter wires have to be a bit longer as the starter is on the other side but it's all little nickel and dime stuff. I just put a 383 Chevy in my '67 Cutlass convertible and it was very easy!

Plus the trans has to be a Chevy bolt pattern.
I think people make it sound more complicated then it is.

This is the same body that the Chevelle is that came with Chevy motors.

There are several differences than just mounts but if you already have a 350 Chevy then its a just a bolt in for you.

Or are you asking about Wheeler Power Products in Florida??

If you're starting from scratch with a turnkey 350 SBC and a Chevy bolt pattern trans mated to it....what else is there??

I'd dyno it on a Mustang dyno before and after.
Otherwise you'll really never know if it was worth the $$$.

Alot of classic muscle car owners do their HP ratings by the seat of their pants feel.
When they actually put it on the dyno they realize their 450hp claims were really only 300hp.

It just helps to see if you're going in the right direction with your investing.

Anyone drop a BBC into a Cutlass? Once I am done touching up my Cutlass, I would like to do a 70-72 (hardtop or convertible, it does not matter) Cutlass for my son to have to play with. And lets face it, a BBC is FAR cheaper to buy and replace parts on than a 455. Just would like to know how everything fits, including headers......

Just have to use Chevelle parts but if you really look into it you will see a good running 455 still might be a better option unless you are talking about making big power. Once you get way over 500 HP its less expensive to do the BBC.

Plenty of people have.
Just need a Chevy trans that bolts up to it, and motor mounts.
It's not what many people would recommend doing though even on Chevy sites.

A-body engine bay is an A-body engine bay from what I have been told.
I'm not the authority on this stuff, but that's what I've gathered.

455 vs 454 thread, mind the bias on each site.

Bbc

I like my Olds. A BBC just give more HP per dollar spent, and there is no contest on parts availability. I still prefer the Cutlass/44 body lines, and I do like the Olds power, just looking to make good HP and not break the bank for a toy for a 20 year old.

IMO a 20 yr old should not even be driving a car with 250 HP with todays traffic and 'law enforcement'!!
"Back in the day", when 80% of women took busses, and you could talk to a cop, you could actually get away with getting on it!
Maybe disconnect the secondaries, [tighten the upper flap door] 'til he learns the ropes!
'specially since tickets got so expensive, and computers inform your insurance, easily!

My 20 tear old has a 2007 Shelby GT Mustang. He is responsible enough to have ZERO tickets or accidents and keeps the speed for the strip. Opinions vary, and yours may be based on your kid, I know mine can handle what I want to build.

This is good info, now I don't have to worry about buying a 78-80 Cutlass with a 305 Chevy in it due to the fear of a diffcult 330 Olds swap

Bayou - no offence meant - probably varies by area. Around here, they actually pick on the kids! But the majority of kids have to learn the hard way!
Be proud yours is an exception

Your kid has a supercharged $55,000 500+hp car @ 20 years old ??
Not to say your kid isn't a Saint, but we're all Saints until we're caught.

I don't know anyone at 20 years old that obeyed the speed limit 100% of the time. LOL
That's one of the reasons I waited to buy a crotch rocket until I was older.

He's had it for four years and knows he has a Dad that has been in law enforcement for 20. Besides an internet connection and a little black box tells me where the car is or has been, and what speeds it was traveling along the way. So far he has been no more than 10 over and lost the keys for 2 weeks.....He would rather have the hot car and wait for track day to run it out.......

Oh.....well sh** that's all you had to say right there. LMAO

You must be makin some bank down on a LEO's salary to give your son a $50,000 car.
Either that or I'd love to know what kinda job he has. I still don't have a $50K car. LOL

Do you adopt ?

LOL< Yes I am compensated well, but I made a deal with him years ago, If he got a full ride I would buy him his dream ride.....and I guess it is expensive to be a man of your word.
