I may be in a position where I need to sell my 66 98 LS. I need some opinions as to value. I will keep it before I part her out so this is only about selling outright.

It is a running driving 66 98 LS with about 80,000 miles.

The interior is near mint black cloth (the pictures look washed but to color is still rich) with a tilt-tele wheel and AM/FM radio (works). Also has power windows and cruise.

The body is crusty around the qtrs and the rear bumper is totally shot. It starts and runs great, the trans shifts great and it drives straight down the road (no funny pulls or vibrations). It has good tires.

It needs: Exhaust crossover, speedo cable (I have one) and some driver door wiring repaired.

I figure I am going to loose money if I sell it but need an accurate idea as to its worth (I have some home repair that needs to be done).

Since it is a sedan it isn't as desireable as a hardtop. However, it looks to be in ok condition. Hopefully the rust isn't too bad. You can probably get $2000 from it if you are patient.

 

Old Cars Price Guide puts the value of a 1966 98 4-door sedan in #4 condition (good running and driving car but needing restoration) at about $2400. Given the shot rear bumper and other rust issues, I would say that it is not much above this in condition. In #3 condition ("car show" condition), the value rises to the mid-$5K range. Depending on the pluses and minuses, you could be somewhere in the $2500 to $3000 range.

But as Olds64 points out, this is a four-door, and they're just not as sought-after by collectors. You may have to have it on the market for a while until someone with a particular interest in these notices it.

2K is more than I would ask for it.

I saw somewhere this body style is refered to to as a Hardtop Sedan (Hardtop doors on a Sedan body). Nowhere as desireable as a 2dr but I am OK with that. I have a couple pre-teen kids and having a 4dr with them is fairly handy.

yup that is still a nice car to be fixed up, I'd ask 2000 2500 obo.

 

I think better pictures will give you all a better understanding of why I think it's more of a $1700 car than a $2000+ car.

Last weekend we had family over but this weekend I should have time to get it out - wash it - and bet some pictures.
