What's with the seat belts on the ceiling?
Like the title says. I have a seatbelt on the passenger and driver side ceiling. They don't seem long enough to reach any of the buckles... So what am I missing here? Thanks ;-)

What car, year, model etc. do you have?
On my '68 4-4-2 I have shoulder belts attached to the roof on each side. They connect to a second buckle on the inboard side of each bucket seat, and just like the lap belts, they are mounted to the floor pan at the rear of the front bucket. Perhaps a previous owner removed the floor mounted buckle part?

Those are shoulder belts. They attach to the small round slot in the retractable part of the seat belt. Instructions for their use are found in the owners manual. BTW, these are NOT inertial belts like the new cars, they are fixed by the driver and passenger to fit specifically across their chest.

The shoulder belts are folded to fit in the roof hanger when stowed. The lap belts on my 71 were broken when I bought it and unfortunately I installed some cheesey AutoLoc POS belts. You can get replacement 3 point harnesses that don't stow like the OE ones. The only problem is that you would always have the belt hanging from the roof in that case.

Yeah I didn't think they would reach since they only come to mid chest. I didn't realize the buckle was long too and adjustable. Thanks for the info..
So I'll mention that the only thing I don't like about this car is the manual windows. Power windows would be great. I've seen some kits for making manual windows be electric... So I was thinking of maybe doing that... Or how hard would it be to find some door panels from a ninety eight that already had power windows?

Shawn, it's surprising that your 98 currently has manual windows. I guess there were some bare bones cars built back then. Mine doesn't have posi-traction.
If you can find a 71-76 98 or Delta 88 those would be the cars you would want to pull parts from. Make sure the Delta 88 is a hardtop and not a sedan though. If you decide to go aftermarket the hard part will be installing the motors. Fabricating new door panels and switches would be easy IMHO.
