Passenger side rear view mirror placement

I finally purchased the all elusive factory passenger side mirror for my 73 olds 98 4 door. Does anyone have the template or reference for where exactly this goes on the door. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks Greg

Didn't we have this discussion once before? The '73 dealer specs book does not show a passenger-side rearview mirror as an option on the 98. Only the Custom Cruiser had a passenger side mirror, and it was standard equipment. Of course, this doesn't mean that a passenger-side mirror couldn't have been bought through the dealer's parts counter back in the day and mounted on a 98, a Delta 88, or anything else.

Do you in reality have a factory Custom Cruiser mirror?

As far as where it mounts, it mounts in the same position on the passenger side door as the driver's side mirror mounts on the driver's door. Just measure from the front edge of the driver's door to the leading edge of the mirror mount and use the same distance on the passenger side.

If they were not an option then some were added back in the day. Here's a couple photos of a 1973 Olds 98 LS. This car is long gone and that passenger side mirror is on a members car here, I don't remember who but I did sell it here. I agree matching the drivers side would probably be the best way to mount it. John

Not doubting Jaunty, but I would have thought it was at least a dealer option. Thought I saw it listed as an option on my 65 and will look. I would start at locating it similar to left side, but position it with tape and check before mounting.

Mirror was listed as (R.H. chrome mirror 1971-1975 Olds 88 98 Toro Custom Cruiser) I know i have seen alot more 98s without them than with them but at the price of them they certainly are hard to come by. Thanks for the info, last one i put on for my cutlass it had a nice template that taped to the door which was pretty nice but i can do the measuring too.

I don't know about a 73- 98 but on my 55 when I measured and then taped and set the right hand mirror in the same position as the left I could not get it adjusted to see correctly (wind wing in the way). Moved it a inch rearward and I could see perfectly. No one has ever asked or noticed the difference, you might want to look through your mirror before you drill any holes ...... Just saying ....Tedd

I just mounted that same mirror on my 71 98 hardtop sedan and still have the template. I will see if I can scan it and send it to you.
May take a day or two.
Hated paying the price for the mirror but was nos in the box with everything.
Then had to get an nos for the drivers side so they matched.
Drivers side remote was half the price of the passengers side manual mirror, ug!
I attached photos of the car with the new mirrors on.
