Are Old Olds Known f/ Window Border Rust?

Are the older Oldsmobiles known f/ rust forming around the rear window and windshield? I've noticed, after finding rust in this area on my '71 98, that there are afew threads on "roof and window border" rust on the site, and I'm wondering if this is something that is common in these cars.

I think all the GM cars of this vintage have that problem. If you look at it, there is no place for the water to drain. It gets under the stainless trim and just sits there. I've had several early Toro's and one 1966 Rivi, they all had drain holes and hoses in the trunk to drain the area around the back window. I wish GM had done that with all their cars!!!

One thing I noticed someone did with mine was place clear caulk around the top of the windshield of mine and around the rear window where water would usually sit and water just runs right by where it would usually sit. I dont know how long its been like that but I dont have that rust issue on my 1971 but on my 84 I do. So i would recommend try placing like a clear caulk in there when you get it fixed so it just runs off
