ANybody have a parts book? Need trim ID

Need to determine if a trim molding for Front Pass Door is the same part # for 98 4dr hardtop and 88 4 dr hardtop... oddly the 98 4 dr SEDAN molding is too short!! The 98 sedan one is 39 1/4 in long, and the 98 hardtop one is 40 1/2" long!
Found this out after getting a sedan one shipped from CA to NY! So now wondering if a 88 hardtop one is the same as the 98. This is the lower door molding for front pass door. I think the 98's extra length is all in the trunk, not in the doors?

D'oh! 1956. Comparing passenger front door lower trim strip, 88 4 dr hardtop vs 98 4 dr hardtop by part #.

I've got a 98 4dr sedan and a 98 4dr hardtop...I didn't realize the 2 pieces were different lengths...good to know...I'm going to try and remember to go measure them tomorrow....do you have a photo of the piece you're talking about?

I think my 1962 Body & Trim parts book has those numbers. I'll try to look tonight.

Thanks! If you can look this up and solve the mystery it'd be a huge help! It seems totally counter-intuitive that Olds would make a different size door and
trim between a 98 4 dr Post sedan and 4 dr hardtop Holiday sedan, but it must be so! I got one off of what I was told is a '56 98 post 4 dr sedan and it is 1.25" too short! My hardtop piece is 40.5" long and 15/16" wide. The piece I got is 39.25" long and 15/16" wide. Sheesh!

OK- from the 1962 Body parts & accessories book:

Group 12.112 front door moldings

1956 88 and Super 88 Holiday Sedan, p/n 4670594 RH, 4670595 LH

1956 88 and Super 88 Four door sedan, p/n 4670596 RH, 4670597 LH

1956 Ninety Eight Holiday Sedan, p/n 4667792 RH, 4667793 LH

1956 Ninety Eight Four door sedan, p/n 4670453 RH, 4670454 LH

So, this tells me in 1956 each 88 four-door bodystyle used the same molding in both series, the Ninety Eight was different, and there is no crossover between 88/Ninety Eight.

In 1955 the book shows all Holiday Sedans 88-S88-98 used the same side trim.

Hope it helps. If you want a copy of the drawings with part #s, PM me.

Thanks, that's a big help, it confirms what I feared, I'll have to find trim off of a 98 4 dr hardtop exclusively, trim off a 98 a post sedan or an 88 won't work... :-(

So does anybody know of a '56 98 4 dr hardtop parts car ANYWHERE?!

Sorry Buddy, I don't know of any parts car that you need now; though I was sure surprised to learn of this difference bet. the 88s of this era and the 98s! (proving yet again, how GREAT this Forum is! )

This guy was parting one back in September. Pics show it still had the trim.
