'72 Ninety Eight wheel & tire size

Would a 235/75-15 tire on a 15x7 wheel (5x5 BC, 80s Chevy 9C1) be a good fit relative to brake and fender/wheelwell clearance for a '72 Ninety Eight?

OEM was a 225/75-15 on a 15x6 (5x5 BC) wheel, correct?

Civilian 15x7" 4 1/2" backspacing
9C1 15x7" 4 3/8" backspacing

Suburban rims
15x6" 3 5/8" backspacing
15x8" 4 1/8" backspacing

Compare this to your stock backspacing, and see what you come up with.
ALSO...
I have no idea how different the center bores are, but they should be ok. I used a 70's wheel on a 90's caprice as a spare once, but i used it in the front.

I don't have the car in front of me at present...anyone have an original Ninety Eight that could provide the backspacing and wheel width?

I don't have backspacing info for you, but 3 1/2 decades ago, my dad ran the 235-15's on his '71 Ninety Eight (radials).

Hmmm...ok. Standard wheels and hubcaps with whitewalls (Firestone FR380} or body-color GM truck rallys (15x8) with rings and caps (rocket logo, natch!) with whitewalls??

Maybe..or Saddle Bronze. What code is on your data tag? Whitewalls and wheelcovers. Why would you put truck wheels on your car?

I will have to get the codes (don't physically have the car yet)...just want a little wider wheel and a little different look, just rattling ideas around in my head. Don't worry, I'm not going to donk it out

The original tire was a J78 x 15. Your best match is a 235/75 x 15. My 68 Delta had 14 x 6 rims that I switched over to 15 x 7 rims last summer. I put Firestone FR380 on the car. No issues other than replacing my wheel covers. Dramatic improvement over the bias belted tires that I replaced

Hoping that's what it is...same exterior and interior colors as my '72 LeSabre (except vinyl top) that I sold to get my Trofeo roadworthy...
