70 olds 98 posi in open carrier?

does the posi unit from a 70 98 fit a 70 98 open carrier? Any parts kits for the swap? What parts might I need if it does fit? Thanks

Your question is confusing because you are not using the correct terminology.

What do you mean by posi UNIT?....what is a unit? Do you mean the entire posi carrier?

You mention the open carrier. Now this is a correct term. You can remove the open carrier from your differential & remove the gear set. You can then install this gear set onto a posi carrier & reinstall it into your differential. You will now have a posi rear end.

As far as parts go 507OLDS and monzaz are both members here whom I consider experts with rear diff's. In addition they both buy/sell/trade parts to complete rear ends. I'd encourage you to contact either one of them to see if they have what you need or could point you in the right direction. Good Luck with your project! John
