1978 98 dual exhaust

dunno why I delayed for 2 years, but the regency is now an antique reg so I can do whatever I want to it.

step 1: dual exhaust.

WHERE? lol

gimme some hints on where I can even start to look for parts?

the I pipes and exhaust pipes I can get done in 409

mufflers are a wash.

muffler hangers and tails are the hard part.

I have been googling all night, even hoping some old caprice cop stuff was listed...but nothing around and I am sure one of yinz has done it....

thanks...

Just go to your local exhaust shop. They should be able to fabricate a dual exhaust system without any troubles.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to find any pre-fabricated systems for your car. Even if you could find a system for a Chevy Impala or Caprice it would be different up front since the Olds 403 and 350 are different than the Chevy 400 and 350.

You might try Waldron's Exhaust. They built the entire exhaust for my 54 which I could not find available anywhere else and it fit perfectly. Good folks too. Here is a link:

called them, they only do OEM, if there was a bend card for duals, they can do it but the last olds dual was the 74's, they have nothing GM b/c for the 77-on styles.

and no one around here bends, the kids are not trained beyond making I-pipes to piece up welded systems that fail

grrrr.

time travel might be easier...

You can get aftermarket mandrel bent dual exhaust kits for the 91-96 Caprice. The frame is essentially the same as on the 77-90 B-body cars, so the pipes fit. Cut off the front section and adapt Olds down-pipes like the ones sold by Pypes. That vintage Caprice also has a dual hump crossmember.

"Old"??? Hey, I resemble that remark!

Not all of them, unfortunately, but the Impala SS and the 9C1 cars came with dual exhaust, so yes.

Here is the Walker Dynomax dual exhaust kit. You can get these parts from RockAuto. I guess these are cat-back, so you may need to bridge a section of straight pipe from the Pypes downpipes to these front pipes.
