Trying to locate a gas tank for a 1966 98. Is the tank the same as an 88 or Buick or Pontiac? Keep coming up empty on this one. I own a NAPA auto parts and cannot get one for a 98. Can get new ones for F85 and Cutlass. Have exhausted all the searches I can think of.

 

Fuel tanks for this era of full-size Oldsmobiles are not reproduced. At least, I've never found one, and I have a '67 Delta 88 which I've owned for 9 years now. Your only choices are to have yours repaired if possible or find good used. I don't believe tanks from any other GM model would work without modifications. Tanks from any full-size Olds that year (Jetstar 88, Dynamic 88, Delta 88, Starfire, or 98) should work.

 

A friend of mine needed a tank for a 1966 98 convert several years back and had to resort to having a stainless tank built. Rather pricey!!

 

You are correct in that tanks from other makes will not fit .
However , 98 tanks are all by themselves . No other series tank will work .
According to the parts book .
The GM part number is 393003 .
