U.K Newbie

Hi all, just purchased a 53 Olds 98, having it shipped to the U.K in about a weeks time...this will be my first early 50's GM so i've got a bit to learn. I have owned a 65 Buick Riviera in the past, and currently a 71 Chevy C10, I think the truck will have to go to help recoupe some of the cost of this purchase...though I would rather hang on to it.

I've not been to Enfield Pageant yet, some people I know have good reports for it.
The Damn Yankees at North Weald is a good one day meet near you, what other shows do you get to?.

For some reason I have never made it to the Enfield Pageant, it always seems to clash with something else going on in my life. Damn Yankees at North Weald was ok this year, but best show of the year was the Summerslam at Brands Hatch, over 1000 US cars and Euro NASCAR racing, and best of all the weather was glorious!!!
I always go to Battlesbridge and the Uxbridge show is always worth checking out.
I went to our local Wanstead show two weeks ago and even ended up in the Ilford Recorder!!

Congrats mate, always good to see your ride in print.
If i'm confident my 53 is sound then maybe we'll shoot up to next years summer slam together.

Sounds good to me. I know a couple of other Olds owners, lets see if we can get loads of us so we can make a nice big Olds contingent, the Summerslam is normally around the start of June. This year there was about seven of us and about 250 Mustangs, would be cool to make 20 then we could have our own area.

The Summer Slam is the 3rd Sunday in July, unless it has been changed for next year.

Do you guys get further afield?, I make the AACI shows at Billing, but I've been marshalling for the last few years. There is a rumour afoot that the AACI want to put on a show at Santa Pod on the second bank holiday weekend in May, something along the lines of the Mopar Nationals.

Roger.

Don't be afraid, build it like it was when new and drive it the same way. I often do 3000 mile trips with mine, never had a major problem....Tedd

The seller has been fantastic, I purchased a complete brake rebuild kit from Fusickautomotive and he let me have it delivered to his address in NY were he's put the lot in the Trunk ready for shipping with the car, plus he bought a new 3EE style battery for it.
