Hello everyone. Im am happy to have found this site and maybe can reference some information here. I have come into a 1950 olds and need plenty of help. It is a cool old ride and in pretty good shape. It currently has a 303 olds rocket engine. I do have a very nice 403 from my Trans am that I built laying aroung. Are the bellhousings the same for these two engines
Welcome to the site! Sorry, the 403 is a completely different creature than the 303 and the transmission too. But there are some members here who've installed 455's in 1948-57 cars. Post the question in a new thread and hopefully one of them will provide what you need.

Where are you located in VA? The Capitol City Rockets is the DC Metro area chapter of the OCA.
Welcome to CO
Post some pictures when you get a chance. The 303 while expensive to build is a great engine and one of the best looking engines to ever grace a engine bay. My choice would be to hot rod the 303. They can be built to be very strong and reliable performers. If fact they are just fine in their stock form.
If you really want to change things up. yes you can install 455 (better choice then a 403) but this will require a complete running gear change from engine, transmission, drive line and rear end. Not to mention brake upgrades to stop the beast. Check the major build forum for more info.

Welcome aboard, we love the fifties Oldsmobiles. I agree with all the above, you might also drop on down to the vintage forum with any questions you might have, there is a bunch of fifties types that monitor that site and probably help you out on any problems that you might have.....Lost in the fifties ...Tedd
