Hi all,

I just bought a 1963 Oldsmobile Niney Eight 4 door 6 window sedan. It 's going to need a lot of work but I'm happy with it. All of the chrome trim is present which is nice but it will need some body work.

Yeah, sorry. I tried to upload some pics but was having some problems. File size is too big so I've got to make some thumbnails of them and then I'll post them.

 

Don't make thumbnails or we won't be able to see them, anyway. Just make them smaller.

Here's a great program that I use all the time. It's free. Install it, and then when you right-click on any photo, "resize pictures" will show up as a menu option, and you have a variety of choices as to what size to make it, whether to resize the original or make a copy, etc., and you can do one photo at a time or select more than one and do them all at once. It's a must-have.

Thanks guys. I'm thinking a nice glossy black with possibly a black cherry pearl coat under it to give the paint job a hint of red. Probably a black and white interior with red piping. I'm just not a fan of the factory Wedgewood Mist. I'd like to keep the 394. Clean it up and get it running good. If anyone's got some good websites to start with I'd appreciate it. I've looked at the local parts stores and there's not much they offer. I have however read on this forum and the wildaboutcars forum about a few I need to check out (Fusick & Kanter). There's tons of features on this beauty I like so for the most part there won't be a whole lot of mods being made.

Both are good. Fusick has been around many years and has a stellar reputation. They tend to be pricey, though, so I always shop around before buying there.

Their support of the earlier full-size models (early '60s and back) isn't always as complete as the later (mid-60s to mid-70s) models, and their support of full-size models in general is much smaller than their support of the Cutlasses and 442s. One look at the difference in sizes of their two catalogs (about 40 pages for the '61-'75 full-size and about 100 pages for the Cutlasses) is all you need to see to demonstrate this.

Kanter has also been around for many years and also has a good reputation. They'll have parts, especially brake and front end, that you won't (or, at least, I haven't) found anywhere else.
