transmission cooler

Hello I was wondering if it is possible to run a 8.5" x 11" transmission cooler by itself. I have an aluminum radiator that does not have provisions for cooler lines, when I read installation instructions for cooler, it said it was designed as an auxiliallry cooler, to be used with radiator. but for normal use and mounted in front of the radiator would it not be the same or better than just the radiator, just wondering if anybody done this without trouble. thanks in advance, btw 67 olds cutlass 350 motor powerglide transmission.

I did the same thing on my 70 Cutlass with a 455 w/th400. I did not connect it to the radiator. I totally bypass the radiator and mount the trans cooler in front of my grill. No problems for the pass 20+ yrs.

I have been running a stand alone cooler for 4 years now with no problems. I do run a Derale pan on my 400 also. Has cooling tubes and added capacity.
