New Olds Owner, Long Time Driver
Hi All,
I want to thank you for allowing me to grace these pages
. My name is Gary, I found this site while looking for info about my newly aquired Oldsmobile. This is my first Olds; though I have always owned GM products. I consider myself a fairly competent mechanic but not so
much with bodywork. I am quickly learning some of the more common details, mainly concerning the motor & drivetrain. I have a well-equiped shop with numerous tools. I actually worked as a mechanic for a number of years. I want to thank you for allowing me to grace these pages

I stumbled across it while looking for a rear bumper for my 73 Ventura. This car is so complete that I didn't think it was right to part it out. It has a 350 with a factory 4 barrel, power steering, power disc brakes, A/C, and TH 350 transmission. The body is original paint with factory sport mirrors, all 5 Rallye III 14" X 7'' wheels complete with the trim rings & center caps. All of the lights & lenses are in super shape. There are only 2 areas where the paint is flaking with surface rust present. The interior is in good shape too, just one split on the front seat & light
wear on the drivers shoulder area. The only rust-thru is on the lower driver's 1/4 panel. Even the trunk is in good shape. All the chrome is there & is quite presentable - it even has factory door edge guards. This car shows a shade over 70K on the clock, I believe it's correct.

[This does need a lot of work to be road worthy though. A pack rat thought that the engine compartment was a perfect place for a nest
I could barely see the top of the air cleaner & the brake booster when I opened the hood. As suspected, several wires have been gnawed in two. I had to remove the inner fenders to clean out behind them, the debris has caused some areas of rust which need to be treated. The front brake calipers are frozen, the master cylinder needs to be rebuilt or replaced (it's original too!). The motor/trans is NOT frozen up, the oil looks & smells normal (no water). The A/C system has some residual pressure. The H/D radiator is original also & still has the tag - the fluid is green too. I can also see the paper tags on the front coil springs!! The front windshield is cracked on the driver's side. Omega_08.jpg

It seems I have a knack for '73 vintage cars
I mentioned my '73 Ventura previously, I also have a '73 Camaro I am doing a nut & bolt restoration on. I've come to find that all 3 makes seem to have items that are specific to only one or two years which makes it hard to find parts sometimes. The last thing I needed was another project but my son (he's 11) wants the Omega ! I told him he needs to help or I will keep it for myself
