New Guy

Recently found the site. Looks like a good place for 442/cutlass info.
Recently got a '71 442 convert. last fall and just got a '71 hardtop to go with it.
Waiting for the hardtop to arrive.
Will attempt to post some pics.

The hardtop will need a little work to get to the level of the 'vert.
Hope not a whole lot though, we'll see when she gets here.
Any comments welcome if something is really wrong looking.
I'd like to get the ram air intake carb set-up for the hardtop.
Are there differant carbs between the two?

Thanks,

Todd

Man...that 'vert is beautiful.

The hardtop looks good too, needs a little cosmetic work in the engine compartment and interior but nothing looks really wrong to me.
The washer bottle is in the wrong place and that hood gap to the stone shield is a little big but those things are no big deal to remedy.
I'm jealous too.

I wish my cars looked that good underneath Sandy, you're too kind, the Vista Cruiser did but that's not mine anymore.
My GTO's underbody detailing needs redone after almost 20 years but I'm afraid of the dreaded "mightaswells" setting in so I'm leaving well well enough alone.

Thanks,
Wish I had come across that first. Hopefully problems can be corrected with out being too much $$$.Looked to be a good buy, figured it would need a few things.

Ouch

Hey guys forgot to put any updates on the purchase here.
First, I would HIGHLY recommend not doing business with this place. Took me 3 months to get the car. When I got it, it was a total mess.Very rusty and some problems with the brakes. The resto done to the car was not very recent.Pics of the car were from some other time frame, not now.It took me a while to decide what to do. I had no luck with any resolution from the vendor.I ended up going to a resto shop to try and resolve the issues. What might have been a little body work and new paint and interior, ended up being total restoration. Frame off, new panels, interior, paint, etc. This started in Jan. 2013 and is still in progress, hopefully done in spring of 2014.
I don't mind spending the money on the resto, if I knew that was what I was going to be getting into. All the info I got from the seller was false.Pics posted here are the same ones I got. Condition in pics alot different than what arrived.I know many of use have been there, it's too bad people in the business have to be that way.So good news is, saved another one from the scrap heap, bad news my wallet will be alot lighter after this.

Hope you reported them to E-Bay. At least with the resto you will know everything is taken care of. The gap in the center of the hood can be caused by the spring in center to help pop up the hood if the hood is all fiberglass. If it is all fiberglass the spring can cause cracking of the hood. Both cars are gorgeous. If you can, post pics of the progress or at least make sure you have them for later reference.
