OMG! You've helped me out so much! I knew I made the right choice in joining this forum. So, yep, that's what my car has in it except oddly, the seat beats are black and in the trunk was a whole piece of black carpeting w/ 1/2 size built in front floor protectors. I can't wait until I can get my archives so I know for sure if it's a 442 or not. It has a 350 engine w/ the 4 bbl carb and original sticker that says "oldsmobile 350". Anyway, I'm eternally grateful and I gotta say, you have a gorgeous ride! Wowza!

You might want to touch base with one of our members 442much. He's the president of the Canadian Northern Lights Chapter Olds club in Alberta. He has a rather rare 1976 442. Ken Pilidis

Glad you joined us. There's an abundance of good people here with an unmeasurable amount of Olds knowledge.

As Allan stated, Ken has a rare 76 442 with a factory 455, his username is "442much". He'll chime in sooner or later.

I have a factory 350 '77 442 and currently restoring it.

He and I have I cars registered on the 73-77 registry, you should register your car as well. There are a few other 73-77 owners within this group as well.

Post some photos of your car when you get a chance.

You mentioned "waiting on Archives" to see if you have a 442. Are you referring to the GM Heritage archives?

One absolute way to confirm you have a 442 is a build sheet. Possibly found under the carpet, behind one of the interior trim panels, behind the upper back seat, or taped to the top of the gas tank.

Based on the trim tag information you provided, it sounds like you may have an S model.

76-77 442's had a lower body stripe with 442 badging (painted the same color as the upper body) on the front lower section of both car doors and a 442 decal on the lower right corner of the deck lid (trunk). The decal color varied depending on the car color, normally matching the lower stripe color.

This car of mine seems to be a mystery. I used to be a detailer in an awesome body shop and I could tell right away there were things repainted and replaced but I just let it go because the price was so right! Um, yes, I'll be getting the GM Heritage archives from Sterling Heights Michigan. Oh, with noticing repainting (it was done by the 2nd owner), I figured he may not have put all the little decals back on. According to the third owner, the poor guys kids didn't want the car so they sold it to him for real cheap, then he had too many cars and took it to a dealership which is where I found it. I got it as my anniversary gift from my hubby. Even if it only looks like a 442, it's still got those low, low miles and that lovely metallic blue 350 engine! I'll check out those websites asap, thanks again. It'll be fun crawling around looking for a build sheet, Lansing unfortunately wasn't always so great about putting them in their cars though...
