Wow! Thanks! I'm curious about that vinyl top though, as far as I can tell it never had one. Also, does the 00088 mean that it was the 88th car made that year with the body configuration?

No prob, it could mean just viking blue upper body color. Does not specify if it is vinyl top but normally it would be. The 00088 means it was the 88th Oldsmobile body built at Fremont for the 1972 model year in 1971.

26 26

Is viking blue paint top and bottom....blue vinyl would be a letter code, maybe C but not sure.

e.g viking blue paint with blue vinyl would be 26 C (or some other letter)

with a convertible VIN and body code, the letter would stand for the top color.

Yep I see that now and it's not showing a blue vinyl top for '72.

No, the lady I bought it off of said that her uncle drove it up form California shortly after he purchased it in '72.

He's possibly running characters together?

The 06A at the beginning of the last line could be the build date, first week of June (1972).

I have A51 = front bucket seats

And 0966 is meaningless as far as I know. Arlington, Fremont and Lindon used these #'s as pertaining to the build and were pretty much in-house (Fisher Body) (only) as related to the build/build sequence.
