Hello from a 64 dynamic 88 owner.
I am not sure if this is the right place to introduce myself but I will give it a shot. I have a 64 dynamic 88 with 89K original documented miles. I am the second owner. Interior is great and engine is good. Most of body is in great shape with the only issues being the rear quarter panels.
I have had it for two years and have done the basics to date i.e. radiator,water pump,added duel exhaust, new engine gaskets and hoses and refinished valve covers,oil change and basic tune-up.
Do have starter issues but I will get to that at another forum.

Glad for the response. I am having my other computer repaired...it does a better job of downloading photos. Quick question, I put a rebuilt starter in the 88 and a new ignition key lockset. When I go to start car the engine turns over the starter engages but car won't start and when I turn key to the "off" position the starter keeps running. I have to disconnect the battery using the quick disconnect to stop everything. I then repeat the process about a half dozen times until car finally starts. Once car gets warm I never have this issue.
So what do you think for cause?

Welcome to CO. I think you might have two problems. The first would be a faulty starter solenoid that will not dis-engage, the second would be incorrect choke setting on the carb. I assume you have pumped the carburetor sufficiently to approach flooding it to the point that it will eventually start.

The solenoid was replaced when the starter was rebuilt. I originally replaced starter and solenoid due to corrision not due to poor starting. I know I have carb issues and a bad fuel pump. If I spray in starter fluid the engine kicks over fine. So I will take your ideas and focus on rebuilding the carb and fuel pump. Appreciate the response.

I am looking forward to this helpful group. I now have a two car garage just for my 88 and I have heat for the winter. Planning on pulling two doors and redoing the interior on those doors. I us U.S.A Parts Supply LTD for a great deal of my parts.... nice inventory.
