Heyy everyone my names harry and i just bought a 1972 cutlass last summer really excited but don't really know what to do with it i put new shocks and springs in and raised my car too also the cars in good condition very mint just needs paint please give me a meassage back im new to this thanks
also one picture is before the spacers and after tell me if i should keep the spacers the back has 14 inch tire with 245 bf tires

Welcome to CO, nice looking car. I agree that it looks better without the spacers. I remember when we would raise the rear end of the car in the seventies, trying to emulate the race car look. The only thing is, our tires never filled the rear wheel well as much as the race car tires did and they just looked kind of.............half-way done. Some how not complete. Now I like them better when the stance is closer to stock.

When I was a kid, we used to used 2X4 spacers in a 55 Ferd under the leaf springs. They lasted about a week before they crushed to pieces.

It's you ball and your bat. Do whatever ya want.

 

Nice Ride, I love that body style. I like the look better without the spacers. I have been told in the past that when you raise the back end it puts more stress on the front end because it puts more weight up there. Not sure if its true, but it makes sense. Nice car, but you can park a bus in the gap between the tire and the fenderwell. Frankly, 245/60-14s are too small in diameter for an A-body for my tastes. I usually use 255/60-15s on the back, without a lift kit. Look for tires that are around 27 inches in diameter or even a little more.

 

wow thanks guys this feels like a 2nd home yeah i know i might ditch the spacers anyways i put in new springs anyways so it might be better off with out it also check out the vinyl top its kind of werid shape lol also any ideas what i should do to this beauty im thinking about painting it saddle bronze thanks guys

Nice ride! Glad you decided to take off the spacers...makes the rear tires look too small.

I had air shocks on my first Ninety Eight...there was a squeaking sound so I replaced the front suspention. The squeaking persisted...I could not figure it out - until about two years later when the upper A-frame bushing broke and the whole front wheel was under the car.
