Hey guys,

I just bought my first cutlass a week ago. It is a 1971 Supreme Convertible and I love it. I have some body work to do but it drives great. I want to take it back to the original color. The car has great black interior. I think the original was matador red. I can't figure out what was the 05C option.

05C is probably the build date. 05 = May, C = 3rd week. Third week of May 1971.

 

Here' the breakdown as I understand it to be:

ST 71 = style/model year = 1971

3 = GM division = Oldsmobile

42 = model series = Cutlass Supreme

67 = body type = convertible

LAN = assembly plant = Lansing, Michigan

10065 BDY = body number (internal plant use)

TR 970 = trim number (interior color & front seat type) = black strato bucket seats

75 B PNT = lower body color & convertible top color = matador red with a black convertible top

05C = time build code = 5th month of the calender year (05) & the third week (C) in that month = the 3rd week of May 1971 = the week of May 17th, 1971
