Newb here wit many questions...

Hello to all forum members glad to join you all...Ive just aquired a 71 believed to be a 442 as the vin states.....I have many questions and hope to find a whole lot more answers than questions

1. Looking to build a strong chevy 383 to put in there, Has anyone on the forum done this ie put a chevy motor and trans in their cutlass???

One will ask y? well the car didnt come with the orig 455 it has a 350olds and 400 trans in it so Instead of searching for and building a 455 i can do a 383 cheaper with more availability of parts to choose from, chime in pls fellaz help me out here I know its a lot involve jus need to know what....

And then you can spend more money on the wiring conversion and motor mounts and transmission and driveshaft and, and, and.............

When just spending your money on a 455 that will loaf along when you want it to and then just be a monster when you want to play.....your choice.

Welcome to CO. Good luck with the swap, you'll need it. As was mentioned, lots of things to change besides just the engine.

I can find Olds 455 motors all day long from $150.00 to $350.00, about the same price you would pay for a Chevy motor. Take my advice, you have an Oldsmobile keep the oldsmobile motor. I once had a 1984 Olds Cutlass that I took the stock V6 out and replaced it with a Chevy 350. While the car would haul ****, it was not original and that affected the value.
My name is Frankenstien because I am dealing with the exact opposite situation, a Chevy truck with an Olds Power plant. My intention is to get another Olds Cutlass and put the motor from my truck into it.
