Hi everybody. My first post here on the Olds forum. Since august 2009 i'm the proud owner of a '73 Omega. My first US car but for sure not the last. The Omega needs lots of work, but that' s one of the reasons i've bought it. My guess is that i will spending a lot of time here on the website 'cause i saw there are a lot of experts here......

My first step will be to 'shop' on the internet in the US for parts. Anybody have some recommendations? Sheetmetal is my biggest concern.

Both my quarterpanels are pretty rusted at the lower section. Is is true that most of the bodyworkparts are interchangeable with Nova's?

thanks for your reply. Your reply puts a big smile on my face. Google Translate still has a lot to learn, but it makes it funny to communicate with other languages. The translator takes a lot of words literally. For example it made ' bodyparts' > 'humanbodyparts'. Thanks again for your reply!

 

Glad to hear it made you smile. I have no idea what the translator says, but I'm sure they build an "idiot savante" clause into all the things they do. The only part I'm missing is the savante.

I do remember these cars when they were new. I was more into the Cutlass and B Body at the time. The references to Chev,Pontiac, Buick are all accurate, not a mistake of the translater. I can hardly wait to try making a fool of myself in another language again!!

My quarterpanels are pretty rusted on the whole lower section. Instead of welding on patches here and there, my guess the better thing to do is to replace both the quarter panels, altough these are big parts.......

On the front I only need a patch at both the fenders behind the wheels.

 

Thanks for the link, it's indeed a usefull website. Gives me a good indication what kind of parts are available and what the prices are. Here in Holland it's impossible to find parts for an Omega so i'll have to order parts in the US.
