Introducing Myself To The Community and My Oldsmobile Journey With My Tata
Hello Classic Oldsmobile community I have been on this site for about 2 years and I never properly introduced myself I am Deshawn Estrada 19 years old and my beloved is my 1967 Oldsmobile 98 Luxury Sedan Royale I was 17 when I bought her. I was inspired from my tata 1965 Oldsmobile Delta 88 he was given his car by his mother basically a shell non running and no seats and messed up interior he restored it all on his own new engine and transmission restored interior he been working with cars his whole life since 14 and worked in a shop for 4 years and kept on with his passion for cars. I grew up riding around all over his car I was always fascinated how different his car was and looked compared to every other car on the street I always felt special when he would pick me up at school or at the bus stops all my friends tripping out on his car asking me about it. When I was 17 years old I got my 1st official job it was part time minimum wage (13.85$ an hour at the time) 30+ hours a week at a store called TNT Fashion while going to high school I realized this is my opportunity to get a car like Tata so I skipped lunches starving myself and spent no money on myself so I scrape every last dollar together for my dream car budget I wanted one so bad. When I got a good amount of money about half a year later from being hired I started looking at classic cars on Facebook marketplace me and my tata went and meet up to see many cars in person but didn't buy because it was not worth restoring then eventually came across my beautiful 1967 Oldsmobile 98 Luxury Sedan Royale it was mostly completed running and driving close to a daily driving but it did need its TLC it sat in a barn for 40 years and 1st owner got the engine rebuilt and the 2nd owner got the transmission rebuilt and it did look like it was sitting for some time when bought it with almost everything being original came with a lot of maintaining and replacing and fixing the mess ups of previous owners just trying to get it to run just enough to sell. Another thing I always admired about my tata is whenever anyone in the family had car problems no matter what car or what issue he was always able to identify and fix any car problem he knows everything about cars I want to be like him so I am learning everything I can from my tata while restoring this car and I have to he told me I would be the one next to get his car if anything happens. I discovered this website when I was looking for the speedometer grease cap for my car and was happy to find a community with people with the same love for Oldsmobile as me and my tata I never really posted much on here just reading and learning what I can I appreciate this community being welcoming and helpful especially for a youngin like me I trip out seeing some people being on here longer than I been alive. Here is my tata's 1965 Oldsmobile Delta 88 and my 1967 Oldsmobile 98 Luxury Sedan Royale our goal is to restore it back to the original as if it just came off the factory assembly line I can't wait to see what you guys have to say.

Welcome. I’ve a had ‘66 big cars for a few decades. ‘66 Starfire and a ‘66 98.
Dig around here at C/O under my user name for big car information on all the stuff that’s not engines, transmissions and brakes. 65-67 changes were mostly body panels and trim changes. The underlying cars - engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, wheels, rear ends didn’t change all that much in those year - except the US Federal Government mandated safer braking systems in ‘67. And that’s about the point where disc brakes came in too. Those were both really good for public safety.
There are so many people here who know so much more than me, I focused on stuff like electrical, windows, and the little stuff. When you can’t sleep, poke around under my username for posts that might help you.
You have a very cool, and, I'm guessing, very rare car. The "Royale" name was mostly used by Oldsmobile on upscale Delta 88 models in the early 70s. The 1967 98 LS Royale was a version of the LS available only in "Jet Black" color, and it was a slightly higher-priced version of the LS.

I'll bet you could attend a thousand car shows and not see another '67 98 LS Royale. As I said, VERY cool!

That great sounds like exactly what I need to be learning for my car situation I'll definitely check out your user name see what I can learn. And best part about that me and my tata can share most of our parts or if he needs to see how something was originally my car will sometimes show it. But I'll definitely check you your page I need to learn more about the electrical since that's what the previous owners were mainly messing with.

When I 1st bought the car I didnt even know how rare it was until I started doing research on my car never seen another car like mines only on YouTube there is one guy with my car but it's red on the outside with the jet black royale interior. Only thing that sucks for me is the car didn't come with the original front bench seat only the rear bench seat so I been on a hunt to find the front bench seat or at least just the luxury sedan front bench seat so I can get it reupholsterd to get the original royale design. But everything else is there the royal door panels and back seat just need that front seat and I already bought the vinyl top just gotta take it somewhere to get it installed. Hopefully I find that front seat so I can enjoy the full royale experience.
But what is / are the " tata" ??
