Hello from southeast Texas, USA

Hello everyone, I'm new to the group and recently purchased what I believe is nearly a survivor 1959 Dynamic 88.

Thanks guys. I've been a photography nut for years, mostly landscape, wildlife, and ghost towns. But now with the olds and cruise ins, car shows, etc. I'll probably start shooting a lot of automotive art. Not much beats a photogenic ride!

Welcome aboard.

Where exactly are you located? I grew up and lived in that area for 30-odd years before moving to the desert.

Curious is your 88 a Texas survivor? When you get time add some pics of interior and engine bay. Best of luck

Heh, you’re a yankee compared to where I lived in Lake Jackson.

I don't have any history on the car yet. I bought it from a wholesale dealer who had purchased the car for himself, and daily drove it for a while. But it wouldn't fit in his garage, and locking it up under a cover got old. I don't think it makes the strict definition of a survivor, because I believe at least part of the front (passenger side fender) if not both fenders and hood, was resprayed at some point. But original paint and insulation is under the hood and trunk lid. Original cardboard and all dressing in the trunk, interior seems to be all original, as well as everything in the engine bay. Vacuum tube radio is there, looks brand new, and still works.

I think I am even replacing the original generator this week (generator light came on and replacing regulator didn't resolve charging problem).

I'll get some detail pics this weekend. If I can get the charging problem fixed I'll probably go to a nifty fifties cruise in Saturday, may find some other olds there for pics as well.

Where in Houston? I work up north in the Woodlands, and our main office is south in Pearland.

If your Olds has the OE generator I suggest having it rebuilt vs. getting a parts store cheapie. A car is only original once. I'm sure you can find brushes to rebuild the generator.

I've got the look alike alternator coming, but plan to take the generator to a local auto electric place for a full rebuild.

Update, found a couple of other 59's on here with the same color. Two tone Emerald Mist over Frost Blue.

Blue. Really light blue lower, darker up top.

Here are some I shot for the insurance company: interior, engine bay, and trunk.

I found a small spot where clearcoat is peeling. I think the Frost Blue has been either resprayed or compounded and clearcoated. So it's not fully a survivor.

Right. That's why I'm saying it's not a survivor. It's been at least partially resprayed at some point.
