This is awkward....

Hello everyone, new guy here to the forum. Just wanted to introduce myself. Names John and I have a vehicle problem. Between my wife and I we own 7. Yes all are licensed and insured. The state of Illinois should send us a Christmas card.

ok onto what lead me to discover your site here. Which has been very nice to read. The members here are very nice and full of wisdom. Seems like a good place to be. Anyways I picked up a 1988 Olds, Custom Crusier. It has 93000 miles and is in great shape. It needs a little work here and there. My dream is to put a big block Olds engine in it. Not sure on size or power goals yet. Anyways I'll be lurking around. I hope to gain knowledge and maybe even help out some.

Just in case you're still reading and wondering what else I have around the yard. We own..... 1983 Mercury Capri with a 351W and C4 trans. It was a 3.8L but that was not enough for me. 1989 F250 7.3L non-turbo 4x4 with a 5 sod. 1992 F 250 7.5L, 5 spd, 4x4. 2000 Taurus 3.0L ( wife's car). 2001 Suburban 4x4, 5.3L. Last but not least 2004 Mustang Mach 1 4.6L, 5 spd ( bought new).
As you can see a bit of everything but I am a Ford guy with a love for Oldsmobile also.

A little story here... My first car was an 83 Custom Crusier. I purchased that car from the same guy as I bought this one from. This is his last car as his health isn't the best. It means a lot to me and I plan on keeping it for as long as I can.

Thanks guys, and any tips or good sites to check out are very much appreciated. I'll try to get pics up tomorrow.

Welcome to the group... It would be good to see some photos... As I have owned some Custom Cruisers in the past, I presently have many NOS trim parts as well as some window felts available for sale should you need any... Trim parts include Head Light Bezels, Tail Light Bezels, Luggage Rack spare parts, Parking Lights, Tail Light Housings etc. etc...

I didn't get pics today, but I will this weekend. Got busy with a meeting and mowing before all the rain...

cruzn66, I will probably be hitting you up for parts. It needs some of the rubber bummer stuff by the rear bumper. Also may take some window trim for the back door. Also i need the bushing for the top hinge on the tailgate. Any leads??

Welcome to the site! I too lived in Illinois once and remember the state sending me a Christmas card in the form of a tax bill for my vehicles - 11 at the time. I found pastures greener and taxes lower in NC. Anyhoo, post some photos when you get them.

btw, I have family in NC. It is very nice out there. Just not a big fan of the big cities. They live around High Point. I'll be heading out that way soon I hope. They want me to move out that way. I thought about it.

High Point is not a big city (compared to Raleigh/Charlotte/Greensboro) but from living on the prairie, everything is bigger than a blue Harvestor.

Meh, they do that sometimes. I know mine sometimes do when I rotate them on my computer before uploading.
Nice car and a big block is never a bad idea. I'm building my first ever 455 right now (actually, my first ever real build). Check out my thread "Mystery 455" if you want to know what NOT to do, lol. Welcome to the site!

Macadoo, I see it says you're located in central Illinois. Where abouts??? I'm about 40 miles North/East of Champaign. Anyways I took the car for a drive today. It really needs to get a tune up done.

Okay cool. Maybe we could hook up in Gibson City at the drive in theater next summer. They have a few pretty good car show movie nights.

Sounds good macadoo, or if you're ever this way let me know. I travel through Bloomington area when I head to the Quad cities to see family.

oldcutlass, thank you. It really is and I am hoping to have garage space for it this winter. Around here you just can't find them this solid.

kjr442, Heck yea!!! How'd that diesel Do? I've heard they were a gas 350 with Diesel heads basically. I'd love to see one and tear it down just to do it. Love to learn stuff.
