Newbie from Minnesota, Land of the Sky Blue Waters

Howdy. I have been an OLDS fan since very young. My folks owned a variety of Oldsmobiles and I own/owned several. Right now,I am beginning restoration on a "64 Olds Starfire. Someone dumped a '74 455 in it and haven't figured out what tranny it has, yet. I bought the car because the previous owner was going to part it out........ and I couldn't stand letting that happen. I have a '57 Olds 88 2 door sitting in the woods........ waiting.
Hidden away is my black/gold 1970 Olds 4-4-2, turbo 400, W-30 coupe. I picked it up at the dealer, April 23rd 1970. I ordered the car, the only "power options" was a 455 under the hood. I have all the original parts tucked away....exhaust, wheels/tires, OAI flapper door, etc. I used to drag race the car, many years ago. Engine rebuild is kinda next on my agenda. I broke a piston or valve on the last pass down the 1/4 mile many years ago.
I am really new to this site and it will take some time to figure out how to post/reply and post pics. Be patient. WOW, the knowledge on this site is amazing.

Thanks. I guess I am an "Olds addict". "High tech" was a beam type torque wrench, back in the day. My '38 ChevOlds..... was a '38 Chevrolet 2 door sedan, I bought while going to college. When I sold it for $100, it had Olds 394, Isky hydraulic cam& springs, Offenhouser 3 X 2's, '55 "stick hydro", '57 Pontiac rear end with 5.12's, and 4-4-2 emblems on the grill and trunk. I wish I had kept that car and a few more. Oh well, the 1965 4-4-2 convertible was a lot of fun, and made some "improvements".

Where bouts are you ? I am near St.Paul. Do you go to"Back to the 50's" or "Street Machine Nationals" ?
I saw black/gold 70 4-4-2 on here, just like mine. Seems like the username was "Black/Gold".
Then I saw a reference to 4-4-2 from Berejik Olds. I may have pics of that someplace. I had a blueprinted engine built at Berejik for my '68 Hurst/Olds back in 1968. I went to the 1969 NHRA Spring Nationals in Dallas Texas with my H/O. I still have the shortblock sitting in the garage.
I am glad I found this site with ALL the reliable info on here. I have been reading a few days and joined today. Some very nice OLDS people here.
