"Testing The Waters" 350 Olds and KOOKS 64-67 S BO Headers - Might be FOR SALE -
I'm leaning towards building a 455 for my 65 Cutlass. In order to make the change I would have to sell the 350 thats currently in the car. I've got a set of the rare KOOKS 64-67 "A" Body SBO Headers on this motor. However, the headers are not going anywhere unless I can find a buyer for the 350.
I bought this 350 complete from Josh Howard, and here is a link to a youtube video of it running as it was when I picked it up:
Here is the list Josh posted with the motor:
1970 350 block
1972 7a heads with new valves and seats
Steel timing set
Crane cam .484/.512 216/228@.50 on a 112
Rhoads high rev lifters
.040 over cast pistons
Reconditioned rods
Crank turned .010/.010
All new bearings
I have added some additional parts to it since then:
Polished Edelbrock O4BL intake manifold
" " Rocket Racing Valve Covers
" " Miezere Electric Water Pump
BOP Low Mount Alternator Bracket
Chrome One wire Alternator
Aluminum Oil Fill Tube
" " Crank Pulley
Aftermarket Balancer and Billet Timing Pointer
Comp Cams Adjustable Rocker Stud/Guideplate Kit
Scorpion 1.6 Aluminum Roller Rockers
Pertronix Flame Thrower Billet Distributor
MSD wires and Made-4-You wire looms
Edelbrock 1405 carb
PowerMaster Mini Starter
RobbMc Thermostat Housing (blocked bypass feature)
Here is how it looks in the car now, I think its one of the best looking Olds motors out there:
( I consider AC and PS as items that "clutter up" an egine compartment, so no, you won't see them on this motor. If you don't want the electric water pump and low mount Alt set up, that can be worked out )
Here is a picture of the KOOKS Custom Header tag, I had the set coated at NitroPlate.
I paid $2700 for this motor, I've added approx. another $2700 in parts to it since then. It has just over 1800 miles on it. Doesn't drip any oil or smoke. The Rhodes Lifters are a little noisey (by design) kind of like a mechanical cam, has a nice lopey idle and makes 14" of vacuum. Never runs hot, Electric water pump keeps it right at 180 degrees.
I'm thinking $4250 for the complete motor minus the Headers.
I paid $425 for the KOOKS right here on CO, and then spent another $350 on the Hi-Temp coating inside and out. Got to get $575 for the Headers.
Once again, the Headers will not be sold unless the motor sells. I simply can't let them go if I have to stick with the SBO.
I will attempt to add a new video of the motor running in the car, my first try was real poor quailty...
I am in Lansing. MI for anyone that is might consider coming to check it out.
Thanks for looking! As my title states. I'm testing the waters to see if there is any interest at all, might just want to keep it as it is...or build a SBO Stroker so I can keep the KOOKS Headers, they fit so-o-o good!
