time to rebuild

My first car was a '65 delta 88 4 door holiday since then i have been in love with Oldsmobiles. I have owned several since then many years and models. I have sold most of them due to life changes and bills. Im down to my original '65 and a '63 f85 four door both of which i am ready to start the restoration on. Neither of them are what i consider the "coolest" but at this point sentiment wins out my first car and the car i drove on my wife and is first date. So long story short (to late i know) I'm going to spend a lot of time looking for impossible to find restoration parts. The good thing is the '65 is still in complete running order just needs freshened up some interior and a little rust repair. The '63 is completely taken down and in boxes as it has been for eight years now started the process just before my son was born then got sidetracked. so its mainly floor pans powertrain and remembering where it all goes. Wish me luck.

Good luck with the restoration, sentimental value is priceless though the parts are sure going to cost you Looking forward to seeing a thread started on your projects.

Welcome. You unfortunately have two Oldsmobiles that are the least well supported in terms of repro parts. There are no patch panels available for rust repair for either of those cars - good used sheet metal patches are your only options. No, Impala parts do not fit your D88. Similarly, suspension, steering, and brake parts are also difficult to get for both of those cars. The 61-63 Y-body cars are unique to the 61-63 F-85 and Buick Special/Skylark, and the 63 cars have a lot of one-year-only parts in the steering linkage.

The 65-70 Olds full size cars similarly have certain suspension, steering, and brake parts that are not reproduced and can be difficult or expensive to find. I'm not trying to discourage you, but give you the info to make an informed decision. I have first-hand knowledge here as I have a 1962 F-85 wagon and a 1967 Delta 88. If you enjoy the chase of finding these rare parts (as I do), you'll have a great time. If you are thinking you can order everything you need from a catalog, not so much. Good luck with the cars.

I definitly know iv got a long road ahead luckily i dont need much in terms of repop parts both cars are still pretty complete. I am a metal fabricator and enjoy building my own parts instead of buying repop anyway. I also have alot of time behind the sewing machine doing upholstery so not much concern there. These aren't the first cars I've built with little or no parts support. I love digging through piles of parts looking for the impossible or making the wrong part work and look like it belongs. Thats what i look for in a project the stranger the better i dont like doing something someone else has done if ive seen it done alot i dont want to do it haha. My 27 t has a 63 olds 215 with a t5. I built the adapter from scratch. With all that said both of these cars will be resto mod. Mostly original with comfort and driveability updates as i need.

Cool. The 215-to-T5 mating is easy, as D&D sells a bellhousing.

Nothing wrong with that. Too many people have only one tool - a credit card.

"give the foor door all she gots" and "bang that foor door" are something that I always say when I floor the 4door lol. i have a 63 and i been finding stuff on craigslist, offerup, eBay, amazon, orielys, and napa. and I'm still thinking theres more hidden spots out there, in fact right now thiers a man on ebay with 4 215v8's and hes parting them out.
