Smile hooking 6 volt battery

need to know whether this is positive ground or negative ground

i'm obviously a newbie to any forums...lol... it is a 1951 oldmobile rocket 88 303 v-8 with hydramatic transmission thanks !

My guess would be a negative ground as all the later models were of that configuration but if you don't get a definite answer here post this on the vintage forum (that is where the early Old's owners live) and for sure someone will have a answer for you..... back in the day we used to use an 8 volt battery and adjust the regulator to have more voltage. The car would start much faster and the lights would be much brighter.

It is a negative ground. Most positive grounds were FoMoCo products.
