I have been lurking here and there over the years, and figured I should join. I am from the Minneapolis/St. Paul (Twin Cities) area in Minnesota.
I have been an avid Subaru enthusiast for the past 15 years or so, and have recently started to learn more about classic Oldsmobiles. Why? Well, one of the "projects" that my father and I have always talked about is restoring his 1977 Cutlass Supreme coupe. It currently has the V6, and has only abou 28k original miles on the vehicle. It has sat for many years though (most of the time in a semi-heated garage, now outdoors). We have lately been talking more and more about seeing what it would take to get her back on the road. We also have a 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser that I would love to get back on the road (much more feasible; only need new tires, brakes, and exhaust).
As far as my car history goes, it started with a 1989 4door Civic DX hatch, then to a 2005 cobalt LT coupe, to my built 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX, to my current daily driver, a 2014 Subaru Forester XT.
I am looking forward to learning more from you all, and starting this next project!

Welcome to the site! The 1973-77 cars drive nice but there's not a lot of repop stuff made for them yet. They're not as popular as the earlier vintage stuff. As questions come up feel free to post them and hopefully members here can help out. In addition, here's another site you might want to check out: http://www.73-77olds.com/forums/index.php It doesn't have as many members as here, but they specialize in your vintage of car.

Welcome to the site, thanks for sharing pictures. I commend you on participating in a father and son project. As mentioned above the 73-77's have not been widely accepted a collectable, however we seem to be getting more and more members that own them. I think its a positive trend.

Are you expecting this situation to change? These cars are now 40-odd years old. I think that if any manufacturer were going to offer reproduction body and trim parts for these cars, they would have done so by now.
People keep saying the same thing about the full-size Oldsmobiles. "Any moment now," someone will start making reproduction fenders, bumpers, deck lids, etc. just like you can get for Cutlasses. I wish it were true, but I doubt it will ever happen. There just isn't the demand necessary for anyone to invest in the tooling, pay the licensing fees, etc..

I have a 76 442 myself. Interior parts such as trim is hard to find so you are lucky to be in the shape you are.
The basics to get it on the road. Engine oil change, air filter change, possibly flush fuel tank, coolant system drain/flush/re fill, transmission oil check it for color/smell... Doubt you have problems but may consider a trans oil change.
Replace your belts, heater hoses, engine thermostat.. Put around the block and see how well the brakes work, see if you have a stuck caliper or rear brake cylinder..
Keep her on the road !

Nice 77, as others mentioned not many repop parts. It looks as thou your is still in decent shape with low miles.

Welcome to the site (finally) and congrats on wanting to do a pop/son project. I grew up in the shadow of my dad and some big 60-64 88s so it's no wonder I still have the fever. Besides, Oldsmobile is the forgotten brand and someone has to wave the flag!

Welcome... The Cutlass appears to be in great condition and a very good starting point for your project... Now, a little off the Olds subject, what's the deal with the late 40's early 50's Cadillac in the background of your second photo...
