Yet another new Olsdmo-head from Texas
Hey y'all. I'm another new guy to the board. Glad I found this place.
So about my Olds:
1985 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Brogham sedan.
Dover White exterior, tan pillow top interior.
Original drivetrain: roller 307, 200-4R automatic, 2.73:1 peg-leg rear end
Bought new by my grandma in April of '85.
Given to me for my 19th birthday by my grandma after it sat from late '02-early '09 w/ 172,341 original miles.
The wiper motor had gone haywire on it, and my grandad gave up trying to fix it, so they bought a newer pickup to replace it. I grew up in this car. I remember going to the grocery store, the doctor's office, on vacation, just doing everything in this car.
In '05 my family tried to give the car to me as my first car. I threw a fit, as would most 15 year olds who only want a truck or an old muscle car. So it continued to sit and rot.
In January '09, my grandma was tired of looking at the Olds rot in the front yard and planning on calling an auto recycler to haul it off. Now a (very) few years wiser, (and tired of 10 miles per gallon outta my big block powered 4x4 Chevy) I threw another fit, this time about how if she wouldn't have it hauled off, I'd fix the old girl up and drive her. So my grandma surprised me and handed me title on my 19th birthday.
The car fired up on the first try on "vintage" gas after about 10 pumps on the accelerator.
It took me 6 months to get it street legal (mostly), but I now have 196K on her.
My plans are for a mostly stock restoration, but I'm gonna have to put a little bit of my personality in the car. Mostly make it handle better & reduce body roll, make a little more power (I want more TORQUE!), and make the outside slightly more sporty looking.
Thanks for having a place for Olds-minded people to hang out!

Thanks for the welcome! I'll try to post some pics tomorrow from my computer, rather than fight w/ my d@mn phone. I'm a bit technologically challenged. I can do some things better on my phone, others I can't for the life of me do without an actual computer, and then there's some things where I just say screw it an use a pen and paper. All of my project build ideas start out on paper, and then somewhere down the line end up on my computer.
This Delta 88 is what really turned me onto Oldsmobile.
I'm in the process of buying an '84 Hurst/Olds to restore and DRIVE. What's the point of owning a fun car if you can't drive it whenever you want?
Also I have a '72 Chevy pickup that's gonna get an Olds 350 shoved in between the fenders! That's gonna be one seriously FUN Friday/Saturday night cruiser.
