Wheels!
Wheels!
Hey all! I'm new to the forum and have been very impressed with all of the info I've already picked up. I recently started to work on a '65 Dynamic 88 convertible. It had been sitting for several years and I just recently got her cranked up! There are still a few things to do before she's ready for the road, but in excited anticipation for that moment, I am hoping to find the factory-correct wheels. It has steel wheels with wire spoke wheel covers on the front and deep-dish wheels with some sort of gold spoke varmints on the back (pic attached). I'm hoping Olds offered a sportier aluminum 5 spoke option but I haven't seen it yet. Any help would be appreciated and if you have questions about getting a 425 2bbl started let me know and I can try to help (I've learned a lot about them in the past few months!).
Because they don't exist. No one offered aluminum 5-spoke factory wheels in the 1960s and Olds never offered any for the 5 x 5" bolt circle on the full size cars. Aftermarket is your only option.
In 65 there was a custom deluxe wheel cover that resembled a Mag wheel for the full sized bolt pattern. Special offset steel wheels are needed for these covers and are hard to find. There was also a polycast sport wheel available for the 71 Delta and these are not as scarce but not 60's era wheels. Easiest thing to do is get some original or repro steel wheels and correct hubcaps if you want it to look stock.
PS Car looks like a 66 Delta 88 from the 1 pict posted, need to see more of the car to be sure....
