What is this??

Good evening! I took my 1971 Cutlas apart about 18 months ago and have been putting it back together for some time. I have these 2 pieces and I don't remember what they are nor where they go. 18 months ago I didn't do a good job of taking pics and labeling so...please help.
Thanks

They are fender shims, they go between the fender and radiator core support.

Ok thanks! I suppose that it'll be obvious where they actually fit?

I think these go between the core support and the front fenders to align the fender to hood gap.

Forgive me, but I went snooping under the hood this morning trying to figure out exactly where these 2 pieces go and I don't have a clue. Possibly on the side of the headlights? But other than that I'm not sure so if someone can show me a pic or give me a specific location I would be forever grateful!!
(ps. I'm no mechanic, I'm a teacher but I can tinker so forgive me if my inquiries sound ignorant...they just may be lol)

At the very top of the core support there are two bolts on each side that attach the core support to the upper lip on the fenders. These shims are only used if needed to set the gap between the fenders and the hood. You loosen the two bolts and slide the shims in between the core support and the fender. If the gaps are within spec, you don't use the shims.

That's the weird part about my car . I have two of those that came off of my car when I took the front end off . When I put it back together i only need one now . I'm going to have to take everything back off again soon so I can continue some work that needs to be finished , so hopefully I'll figure it out then .
