Vin number 789 approx. 1917- 1922?

Vin number 789 approx. 1917- 1922?

I grew up with what was registered as a 1917 olds 7 passenger with vin#789 any knowledge on this vin.

I would guess it was the 789th Oldsmobile built that year. Seems unlikely that a 3-character, all-number VIN from 1917 would contain much more info than that. I'm certain they weren't called "VIN" back then. Probably just serial number or chassis serial number.
