hi to all! i have inherited my fathers 53 olds, not sure of the model(as it has had extensive custom body work) but i do know that it has a 57 olds j2 371 with a 4 speed ford toploader. back to the subject, i am in the process of refurbishing anything that needs attention since it has been sitting in the garage for about 5 years due to illness. i cant seem to find any steering bushings for this particular year(53), not sure if there are any interchangeable gm parts for this year either. can anybody help me??

 

Which bushings do you need? RockAuto.com has a king pin set that includes those bushings. If that's what you need then check them out. If you do decide to purchase from them there's a discount code you can find on this site. Its in a thread with the title something about the discount and a few posts down Rob explains where to type in the code when you order parts.

If you need something different that they don't have please post more details or even photos of what you need.

thanks john, i think the king pins are ok, just all the linkage in between has cracked and worn out bushings. the sway bar bushings look the worst, is that common? also i will need a stabilizer bolt from the front end bottoming out i suppose. will definitely post pics when i have some better shots!
