In search for a 68 Toro gas tank
took my original tank to a shop to be repaired and flushed out. I went to pick my tank up only to find out it was stolen. "so they say". The owner has agreed to pay for the new tank. But it seems like I would have better luck finding a needle in a hay stack. Can anyone help and bring a happy ending to this tale of newbies costly mistake? I can also be reached at vegas69cutlass@gmail.com

Good luck with that... I've been looking for nearly 6 months.
I found one at a yard through car-part.com, paid for it, and somehow it got damaged by a fork truck <sigh>.
They don't make repro's either.
Probably better off getting a fuel cell.

1968 Toro parts
I don't know what part of the country you live in but if you are near the Northwest I may be able to point you in the right direction for a used gas tank. There is a wrecking yard that specializes in 1930-1980's American classics, about 20 acres worth of cars in Vancouver, Washington. ( Washington State )
I was down that way in March and walked the facility. I know they have numerous 67-70 Toro's for parts. They may even have a gas tank already removed. Just make sure that if you get one shipped they package it up right. I had (4) gas tanks sent to me, one after the other, from a mid-west outfit. Each time I received a tank the filler neck was either smashed or completely broken off. This was just a simple packaging issue solved on the fourth try.
Even if you don't buy the gas tank I would suggest looking at the site for other Toronado related parts if needed.
