SBO and Edelbrock head challenges.

Hi all.
I've had a 71 cutlass convertible 350 cu for over 20 years and fully restored it myself about that long ago. My son wants to drive it now and he convinced me to take the engine to a high performance shop for a fresh build with edelbrock heads, intake, carb, a bigger cam and MSD ignition. We're putting it back in the car and the fuel pump doesn't fit.

So Google has brought me to this forum and all your experiences.
I think I'm going to modify a mechanical pump somehow and I'll let you know how that goes.

Thanks to all for your posts on this and all the other subjects.

Agree w/ copper, easiest way out is to convert to electric pump.

Clearancing the head is more than just grinding a relief, water jacket is close to surface of head requiring a piece be cut out & "patched". I had it done as I wanted the option to run a mechanical pump.

Mech pump will work on BBO w/ a little finesse due to the higher deck height but on SBO I don't think it is doable without cutting out a large relief in the Edelbrock head.
