Rocker shaft removal 64 394

This may have been an earlier thread but I can't seem to locate one.
It looks like some of the bolts for the rocker shaft are also head bolts. If I remove the rocker shafts what is the risk of having to replace the head gasket? Or, is there enough other bolts that there shouldn't be an issue.

Oh yeah I'm talking about a 1964 Olds 394

Thanks

That should not be a problem. I have done it on my 324 with no problems. Just be sure are retorque the bolts.

As indicated, it should not affect the head gasket. The removal/install procedure for the rocker arm shaft assembly is covered on page 3-4 of volume 1 of the 1964 Oldsmobile Service Manual. Upon installing, tighten the bolts incrementally. Torque the large bolts to 60-80 ft.-pounds. Tighten the small bolts to 14-22 ft.-pounds.
