Smile Requesting entry into Classic Oldsmobile

Hello folks......been reading Classic Oldsmobile since May. It's time I signed in. Between me an my wife I own 12 vehicles and not one has a touch screen. They're old and shiny. First car was an Olds as well as the second as well as the third which is my 69 convertible. I've pulled apart my Dad's 94 Olds 88 after he passed away and repainted it original silver metallic. He'd love it. I've a 70 El Camino lifted off the frame 2 foot that I restored some 40 years ago. However back then I brazed in all my patches and painted it with enamel. This time it'll be 21st century. When time allows I grab a can of polish and pick a car. Great to be part of Classic Oldsmobile. No joke, my Dad purchased his 94 Olds at Classic Oldsmobile. .

I don't want you conclude my Mother raised an IDIOT but I learn how to downsize these photos. When I bought the 69 convertible it was not nice. To add insult to injury it looked like someone drank the paint and pissed it on. I painted the car some 35 years ago with lacquer. Soooo. I the paint is showing it's age any closer than 10 feet. After I painted it I never liked the red. Now that it's time to strip it down I'm going to paint it Burgundy Mist. The wire basket wheels are vintage Crager 1970 however it's either re chrome or put the Olds wheels painted Bright White to match the stripes. I never commissioned the Air Cond. I found I new nothing about the system GM used back then. It sure doesn't look anything like what's used in later models. I pulled the compressor apart new case and shaft seals flushed and changed oil.. That's when I was introduced to the P.O.A.. Bottom line is the A6 compressor is to run all the time. The POA throttles refrigerant to prevent the Evap from freezing up. The POA is calibrated for R12.. To use 134A the POA needs surgery. I decided to purchase a POA conversation which consists of a replica of a POA but no guts.. The expansion valve and the Evap oil drain connect to it just as the original. The caveat is a temperature control switch must be installed and a temperature bulb fed to the Evap with the Expansion valve bulb. System all flushed new drier/accumulator new O rings pulled 28 inches of vacuum and it leaked down. Must wait till spring to test with gas and sensor. Incidentally the master control unit was missing the cliker switch wich cuts power to the fan and compressor and fan. The will of God allowed me to find a NOS on e-bay. I'll wait till spring to strip the Olds down. I go back to where I left off welding on the Camino. Made nice patches for the floor and butt welded.. Left wheel arch done as well as the bed wheel arch. Moved over to the passenger side which is where I left off. Back then I had to make everything. I used the chrome wheel trim as my guide. Wow.......I got a motor mouth.

The former owner of Classic Oldsmobile (Merrillville IN right? formerly Walter & Lennertz Olds) Is now the AACA's Executive Director and still has his own fleet of Oldsmobiles.

Yep......That's the one. As a matter of fact I still have the Classic Oldsmobile key chain with the keys to the car on it.
