purchased a mint 84 98 regency for my pops

Hi guys and gals,
My dad owned 3 olds growing up and I inherited or bought them all. Delta 88's, a 1975, 1983, and an 1984. I drove each car over 250 k miles and the 83 was at 286 k when I sold her.
I just purchased an 84 98 Regency with 87,000 original miles. It was sitting in the front yard with a for sale sign on it, I scored with this beauty. Thanks for proving this forum I'll be back with some questions soon. Bye for now, ONeil

Neat story. Please post photos of your "new" '84.

You know that 1984 was actually the last year for a true Olds "98" as that was the last year that the 98 came with an 8-cylinder engine. Going all the way back to 1941, "98" originally stood for a 90-series Oldsmobile with an 8-cylinder engine. Beginning in 1985 and through to the last of the 98 series in 1996, only a V-6 was offered.

Takin my baby out to the show tonight, my car that is. Does anyone know anything about the opera (pillar) lights on the exterior? It appears they are not working. They look to be a light strip and after calling around it doesn't appear they will be easy to replace. Any thoughts?
Thanks for the history lesson. I know my Dad would have loved to buy this car in 1983 when he bought his Delta 88. With us kids and a house there was no way he could justify the purchase.
