Protecto plate decoding

Hey guys, this is my first post but over the years I've got some really good info from you guys and I greatly appreciate this site. I have a 71 442 convertible. The dealer number on the protecto plate is 562. Anybody know what dealership that is? Thanks

If you could take a picture of your P-O-P and your cowl tag and provide your VIN, there are a number of people here that could tell you some detailed info about your car.

With regards to your "562" number, there should also be a 2-digit number that gives the zone. That may help find which dealership that represents if someone else here knows it.

But posting all that info would be a big help in getting started.

Just noticed the original warranty is also with the car. It says it was purchased may/1971 from mikels motors in stroudsburg Pa. Knowing the info I already have on the car, do u think there is anything more to know by contacting the dealership? They are still in business. Thanks

FYI there is a post your dealer code thread on this site, might want to throw that at it.

I have yet to see the compiled list on wildaboutcars.com.

There's always the possibility they'll have more information, such as a copy of the original selling invoice, name/address of original purchaser, etc. But it's way more likely they'll have nothing at all after all these years. But it won't cost you more than a phone call to find out.

Usually on the New Vehicle warrant booklet the selling dealer stamped their plate imprint on the very last page at the top.

According to the web, that dealer still exists. I'm not saying they won't have records, but I think the chances they archived or saved records from 1971 are about the same as finding a brand new 1970 W30 4spd 442 under your Christmas tree. Doesn't hurt to check though. Good luck!
