Oshawa built 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass S Holiday
Hello all,
My name is Bob and I've been interested in cars and everything related to them since age two. I am now 42 and have owned over 100 cars of various makes, years and condition. Some cars left me in much better shape than I found them, some left in the same shape and sadly a few left me in worse shape.
My profile pic is of me at age two with my dad's 69 Cutlass which was a Trophy Blue car that dad painted stripes on and the rocker panels/wheel arches in egg shell white.
I've wanted to replicate his car for years but I've pursued many other projects and had other things get in the way over the years. (Many more important things I should add)
I just traded for this 69 Cutlass which is a 20 footer. It's an old base coat/ clear coat paint job which the clear is flaking heavily, all rubber on the car down to the smallest bit is rotten, the entire wiring system is hacked up and faulty, the bumpers are dented and rusty, the engine/trans and suspebsion are all very tired and there is a lot of old bodywork showing.
I'm not yet sure what the original color of the car was but it wasn't red. It does have the sport steering wheel, buckets and short console and rear away bar etc but is a drum brake car. I plan to build this car almost identical to my dad's but with a few changes.
I imagine I will need some help/advice as I get into this one so I think this will be a good arena. Also, I will share what I find/learn along the way. -Bob

Welcome to this site! It's the best Olds site going as far as I am concerned. Learned a lot here in restoring my '68 and '69 4-4-2s. Post a pic of your trim tag (on top of the cowl, driver side, under the hood) and people here can tell you some of the original things about your car. Have fun in rebuilding your car to what you remember of your dad's car!

Thank you much for your response and the advice. I'll post it asap and see what happens. What forum should I post it in? I'm still learning things around here. Do you have pics of your cars on here? I'd definitely like to see them. -Bob
Just post it in the Newbie forum - it will be seen by many!
Here's a couple pics of my cars. My parents bought the '68 new and it was supposed to go to my sister. That's why I bought the '69. But my sister didn't do anything with the '68 so the restoration went to me for both cars. Finished the '68 back in 2007 and the '69 just last summer. Both are fun rides!
