Original Color?

I just bought this 72 Convertible as a weekend driver. The guy I bought it from said it was repainted in the original 'springtime green'. I like the color regardless but was this an original color?

Welcome to the forum.

Reply back to this thread with either a pic of the cowl plate (inside engine compartment on driver's side) or a description of the cowl plate. It can be decoded for body/trim color.

Edit: oops, i thought the question was asking for the original body color, not if 'springtime green' is an Oldsmobile color

This link takes you to a page with 1972 paint choices. The only 3 shades of green I see are: Radiant Green Poly (code 36), Pinehurst Green Poly (code 43), & Sequoia Green Poly (code 48).

IMHO - that color looks an awful lot like Royal Turquoise that was used in the 50's on Oldsmobiles

....Pinehurst Green Poly (code 43),

I like Pinehurst Green Poly, lol!!! The color in mhoods pic looks like the color of my first 72! Of course I don't know what it was, though.

I'm gonna kick your a$$!!!!! That Rustang should be proud to be wearing a GM color.... best thing about it, lol! Maybe it's one of the 14 colors on the paint sticks Don gave back to me where they couldn't match my paint!

I love the colour and would like a few more pics of your car if that's OK.
Don't know what happened though but when I click on the thumbnail the pic I get is still thumbnail sized.

I just bought the same exact car! I'll put some pics up as well. I questioned the color myself but it looked original and was under the carpet, weatherstripping etc. Thanks for clearing it up! Now I just have to get mine running right.
