The cars of "Newbie" Oldsmobiledave

Some know me from ROP & the 73-77 forum. I am relatively new here but hardly a Newbie to Oldsmobiles.

I have had requests for pics of my cars. So here goes.

1972 442 W-30 4 speed Radiant Green gauges 3.73 gears. Last X code car sold in Canada.

1972 Olds 442. 524 cid BBO stroker by Joss Engines. 10.92 @ 122.1 mph @ 4000' elevation on pump gas footbraking.

1965 Olds 442. Was 400 auto 2 spd now 461 BBO with Richmond 5 speed & Chevy 12 bolt 2.73 posi. This was an every nut & bolt frame off resto - taught me to never do it again.

1987 442 repainted monochrome. Street legal car. Has 470 cid diesel based stroker with 2004R & Ford 9" / 3.89s. Engine dyno'd 555 hp & 553 TQ to the ground. 11.6 @ 116 mph @ 4000' in 90 deg heat. Lots of potential in this one - with tweaking it will go low 11s & still drive home on pump gas.

1987442ProStreet004.jpg

1980 GMC. Formerly diesel; 468 cid BBO. Dyno'd 540 rw TQ @ 3850rpm. 500,000 km & counting.

2005CargoMateEliminator045.jpg

1969 442. Freemont built GM executive car. Numbers matching & rust free / 1 repaint in original paint color 78 Galean Gold & original vinyl top. Have GM docs proving heritage, build sheet, original bill of sale & CA title.

pair of 1969 442s built in Oshawa Canada 170 units apart on Aug 27 & Aug 28th 1968. Both cars are bench seat column shift with balck stripes & interiors & Chevy 12 bolt rear ends with 3.07s. Pewter car has power windows & a previous owner added the a/c from another 69 Cutlass. This car is rust free with one repaint in original color paint code 69 Silver Pewter. Have GM of Canada docs, Original BOS & build sheet plus complete ownership & maintenance history on the car.

The turquois car is for sale & listed in the For Sale section. Has 1974 455 & T400 in ti from a Delta 88. Original drivetrain on pallet & comes with car.

Radiant green blows away any other '72 model color in my book: your car is beautiful.

I like what you did with the '80 Truck. I'd like to find an ex-diesel & repower it with a 455. I'm a big fan of these trucks & have a bunch of them.

1984 HO 350 replaced original 307, 3.73 posi, 1 repaint.

1969 Delta Royale 365 hp 455 T400 with 2.93 posi & duals. Had pwr windows & cruise control and HD suspension with the rear sway bar. On a late night run from Saskatoon to Calgary I made it in 4 hours & 22 mins. That is 600km (370 mi) trip that I will never forget. Man that was one awesome highway car.

1974 Omega 6 cylinder project car. This was a Vancouver Island car that I p/u in the Okanogan after it got parked. It was more of a project than I wanted so I sodl it off. Someday a really nice 73 or 74 Omega S will come along & I will jump on it. No hatch backs though.

The green '73 is my favorite..got any more shots of it?

Also, were the buckets/console combo in your ex-Delta original? Could you order buckets/console in a '70 Delta? Just wondering. Thanks for sharing your stuff.

It is a 1969 not a 1970 Delta (although I have had 1 2 door & 1 4 door version of those too). The car had facotry buckets & console with 4 way power assist on the driver's side.

Bucket seats were availalbe thru 1970 but bench seat only starting in 1971.

This Delta now resides in Winnipeg MB.

How can a person amass such a collection without being Jay Leno. This is ridiculously impressive.

Happily co-habbitating with a wonderful woman who understands that a man needs a hobby.

Her favorite is the Pewter 1969 442.

Charlene's favorite Olds is the 1969 Pewter & black 442. She likes the bench seat for obvious reasons & also she loves the old GMC too....again for the bench seat & the big block power & sound thru the Magnaflow mufflers. Never discourage your lady when she likes to sit beside you.

Her involvement is to navigate on the road trips to p/u new cars & look good in all the ones she rides shotgun in. She handles both tasks well & she also helps out at the track when I am racing.

She often tells people her favorite birthday in recent memory was 3 summers ago when we went to Helena MT from Calgary to p/u a car. My buddies don't understand but if you treat them well they will reciprocate.

Here are some pics from the trip & a shot of her...for a gal in her 50s she still turns a few heads....as did the Cranberry Poly 1973 350 4 speed Cutlas Supreme on the trailer.

More pics

I was asked to post some pics of some of the project cars I had.

1965 442 Black on Black 4 speed car with 3.23 posi. This was a manual steering manual brake car. Original 400 was gone but had a rebuilt 1965 425 in place. Car sold new in Outlook SK & is now undergoing a frame off resto in Edmonton AB.

1967 Delta Custom. Insurance Write off purchased for $175.00. Had untouched low mi original C head 425, switch pitch T400, console shift with buckets & 4 way power assist. Was a great parts car. Bet that accident with the City of Calgary 5 ton truck really hurt!

1970 Coddner-Bevington Hearse. Non a/c low mi 1970 365hp 455 & T400.
This one is out on Vancouver Island now & is a courtesy limo / parts fetcher for a Helicopter company.

1970 F-85. 350 2bbl with T350 & 2.56 open rear. Every pannel was beat to hell but it ran real nice & had a perfect no vent dash & rust free doors. This one got traded to a friend along with a Bucaneer Red 1975 4 speed Trans Am. It is being used for parts in the resto of his 1970 442 Post Coupe. I got a 1972 350 OAI equiped 442 in return. That was a white & black bucket seat console shift car & it is currently undergoing a full resto in Calgary.

You can not quite make out the weight but that one photo is on a highway scale & the weight is 1630 kg (3586 lbs) with a spare in the trunk & a half tank of gas (no driver).

1972 Cutlass Supreme. North Carolina car that I took on trade for a project 1971 442. Had 350 & T350, buckets, console, dual gate, gauges, hood lock, tilt, sport mirrors, disc brakes, SS rims. This one is now in Saskatoon SK where the owner pirated all the sexy options from the car & put them onto his 1972 convertible. The car will be restored someday. That dent in the passenger quarter pannel was aquired when the previous owner had it in a muffler shop & they dropped it off the hoist. Nice!

1972 U code Cutlass Supreme. Was paint Code 75 Matador Red with white bucket seats & column shift, disc brakes, tilt, posi, no a/c. Numbers matching but non running car. Car is in Montanna undergoing a frame off resto.

1972 Cutlass roller. An extremely clean shell that was gutted & had no drivetrain. Sold this to a fellow in SK 5 years ago who is using it in the resto of his 72 442 (body swap). One does not see many two tone cars in 1972 let alone ones with mostly factory intalled paint.

1973 Cutlass Supreme. 350 T350 with virtually every option. The rebuilt engine & trans got put into the 1964 Cutlass shown in an earlier Post.

1978 Cutlass Calais equiped with 260 2bbl & 5 speed manual. Became a parts car for a G body manual trans swap project in Calgary.

1977 Toro XS. 77,000 1 owner mi. Sold it to a fellow in Calgary who drove it year round for another 10 years before it went to Pick & Pull. Note the 1978 442 in the back ground. That is one of 50 305 4 speed cars ever made. And exceptionally ugly I might add.

1985 442. Have you seen the movie Four Brothers set in Detroit & staring Mark Wahlberg?....well that was my car. Had I known they were going to trash it in the movie I would have swapped out the 3.73 posi for a 7.5" open before I sold it to the movie set.

Toro

The XS is long gone from pick & pull. I had a silver one too that was rough. I pulled the engine out of it & parted it out. Not much interest in these cars & I seldom play with Toros but I bought them dirt cheap.

John, were you looking for Toro parts? Last summer there were 3 77/78 Toro's lined up in one row at the pick n pull. Unfortunately I didn't need anything from any of them. They were all in surprisingly good shape. 1 white, 1 black and 1 silver

Hey Dave/Allan,

Those years of Toro share quite a bit with Ninety Eights. The entire dash, lower door panels, moonroof, mirrors, options, etc. they tend to be great donors for my cars so please keep me in mind if those 3 or any others pop up in yards....thanks guys!!!

Wish I'd known John. The 3 that were in the pick n pull all looked extremely good inside. I thought it was a shame to see such nice body panels and interior in the wrecker. All had really high loads for options. They were there for the better part of 2 months. If I see any others I'll PM you. Any particular colors you have in mind?

Hey Allan, damn I wish so too! I am really looking for a black steering wheel in beautiful condition but even if a different color interior comes up, there can be lots to pick from. I would definitely like an extra set or two of moonroof drive cables which an XS would have. Please keep me in mind if any others turn up. Thanks!!
