What company? Oldsmobile? They don't exist any more! ![Smile](https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
You can write to the GM heritage center
http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/
and for a fee, they'll send you information about your car. But probably not as much as you would like as production information broken down by color or other options or whatever doesn't exist.
We CAN tell you that Oldsmobile produced 7,284 98 convertibles in 1960. The original base price was $4,362, making it the most expensive Oldsmobile available that year. It has a wheelbase of 126.3 inches, an overall length of 220.9 inches, and weighs 4,514 lbs.
As far as the VIN, the VIN was not very informative in that era in that it didn't tell you much that you couldn't tell by just looking at the car except for the plant where it was manufactured. In your case, the VIN tells you that the car is a '60 98 built in Kansas City, Kansas. The VIN didn't even indicate body style back then, so it doesn't indicate that yours is a convertible.

We in the Oldsmobile hobby who own pre-1977 cars have long had to content ourselves with the basic information we can find in the various reference books as well as the cars themselves.
For general Oldsmobile information, you might find the following books of interest and perhaps worth acquiring.
Setting the Pace: Oldsmobile's First 100 Years
http://www.amazon.com/Setting-Pace-O...4085711&sr=1-2
The Cars of Oldsmobile
http://www.amazon.com/Dennis-Casteel...4085748&sr=1-1
The Standard Catalog of Oldsmobile
http://www.amazon.com/Standard-Oldsm...4085804&sr=1-1
There are certainly others to be found by searching around at Amazon as well as online in general.
You can also find lots of information at Wild About Cars, which doesn't cost anything to join and which has all its information online. It's well worth joining and checking out.

Their response is not a surprise, and, no, there is no one else to contact. The records no longer exist anywhere beyond basic production, price, and specification information. But anything specific to any particular car or any breakdown in production records by anything that might be interesting like color, how many had this or that option, etc. just doesnt' exist.
